What is worship?

What is Worship? By Ps Kevin McKenzie

What Is True Worship?

The Boy Who Prayed “I Wish You Had Been at Church Today”.
Someone will jump up and shout of course He was there!

Worship is supposed to make a difference in who we are and what we.

A.W.TOZER was born in 1897, on a small farm in Western Pennsylvania. He said. you’re not worshipping God on Monday the way you did the day before, perhaps you’re not worshipping him at all. Worship is no longer worship when it reflects the culture around us more than the Christ within us.

Who Turned Worship into Music and Entertainment. Not all churches explain take blood out, use smoke, disco balls secular music, and Super Bowl. If they don’t understand words explain them to them.

Seeker Sensitive.
In 2019, Malcolm Nicholson done an interview with Bill Hybels who started the seeker-sensitive church. Bill said “We made a mistake. Preaching is the core ministry of the church, and lives will not change without powerful and Spirit-inspired teaching from the Word of God.” And the results aren’t good for churches that replaced “sin, salvation and sanctification” with “Starbucks, strategy and sensitivity.”

How Does This All Happen?

2 Timothy 1: 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God. Some Pastors were never called an anointed by God No God called leadership

Moses & the Exodus story.
Judges.21: 25 In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes and that what happened.

Praise music with God’s honouring doctrine can enhance our worship Ambush.
2 Chronicles 20.22 sing and to praise, the LORD set ambushes
Luke.24:52 And they worshipped Him, with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God.
Psalm 147 1.Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful. (H.1984 Rave, boast celebrate H.2167 Strike with the fingers, the strings Accompanied by a voice H.8416 A hymn of Praise)
Praise was mentioned three times in this verse using three different words

What Is Worship?

The law (or principle or rule) of first mention of worship is in Genesis 4 Cain and Abel brought an offering. Here is the first time the word worship is mentioned.
Our text is Genesis 22 Abraham tested.
In Genesis chapter twelve verses ten to twenty Abraham goes to Egypt In Genesis chapter eighteen Sarai and Abraham are told by god they are going to have a son and she laughed because she is old and in chapter sixteen chapter twenty verses one to twelve. Abimelech king of Gerar sent for Sarai. God is a God of grace and many chances, He won’t just give up on us. Let’s go over to where he worshipped and have a look. What do you see?

WHAT IS THE FEAR OF THE LORD?

Psalm 33:8 Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him!
1 Peter 1:17 And if you call on him as Father who judges impartially according to each one’s deeds, conduct yourselves with fear throughout the time of your exile,
Proverbs 8:13 The fear of the LORD is hatred of evil. Pride and arrogance and the way of evil
Deuteronomy 6:2 That you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, The fear of the Lord is to hate evil, loving what God loves and hating what He hates, and obeying His commandments.

The fear of the Lord is like driving down the street a teenage driver who suddenly spots her father’s car in her rearview mirror. Seeing him back there puts her on notice to be on her best behaviour—to use her blinkers and stop at the yellow light, and to keep both hands on the wheel. But it also tells her that her father cares enough to follow her. It tells her that she’s safe. He’s trying to help her develop good habits; to obey the laws and stay safe until she gets home. She’s driving on her own, but not completely on her own. So it is for the people of God. The fear of the Lord means we live life with our heavenly Father always in our rearview mirror. We glance up and see his brilliant holiness but also his care and love. He keeps in the fear of the Lord, its a mix of reverence, trust, and love.

1 Corinthians 3:9-15 We build on the foundation Paul laid down and if our works are wood, hay and stubble they are burnt up and we are still saved. Abraham has learned his way doesn’t work
Now go back to verses 25-18 to the word obey, blessings go back to the Lord will provide, to the word worship and tie it all together.

Worship H7812 shâchâh
A primitive root; to depress, that is, prostrate (especially reflexively in homage to royalty or God): – bow (self) down, crouch, fall down (flat), humbly beseech, do (make) obeisance, do reverence, make to stoop, worship. Worship G4352 proskuneō (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master’s hand); (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore): – worship. John.3: 30 He must increase, but I must decrease.

Jehovah Jireh
No instrument here, however, he gives praise and thanks to God
Hebrew.3070 Jehovah-Jireh = “Jehovah will see (to it) My provider
We sing a song. Jehovah Jireh my provider.

New Testament Worship.

John 4:24 God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth. Building on the old test foundation we have the Spirit to help us.
Genesis chapter twenty-two is our foundation for worship and now building on that foundation we have the Spirit living in us to teach us, how to worship, pray, to lead us guide us renew our minds all to enhance our worship.

Vain Worship

Mark.7: 5 Then the Pharisees and scribes asked Him, “Why do Your
Corban G2878 A gift offered (or to be offered) to God at the Temple treasury

Strong’s H.7133: qorban (pronounced kor-bawn’) something brought near the altar, i.e. a sacrificial present:–oblation, that is offered, offering. This word is used 82 times in Leviticus 1:2: “Any man of you bring an offering unto the LORD, ye shall bring your offering”

Vain G3155 matēn folly, that is, to no purpose: unsuccessful- in vain.

Isaiah 55:11. New King James Version So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

And now when you create doctrines of men it makes the word of God to no effect, His word can’t return void but when we create our own word and won’t listen to God’s word, then His word has no effect in your life or church because you won’t accept His word.

DOCTRINE Doctrine. Strong’s #1319: didaskalia from 1320; instruction (the function or the information): doctrine, learning, teaching. that which is taught, doctrine

Last Day Doctrines

1 Timothy.4:1. Now the Spirit ]expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons, 2 speaking lies in hypocrisy, having their own conscience seared with a hot iron, 3 forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from foods
1 Timothy 4:6 If you instruct the brethren in these things, you will be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished in the words of faith and of the good doctrine which you have carefully followed.
1 Timothy 4: 13 Till I come, give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine.
1 Timothy 4:16Take heed to yourself and to the doctrine. Continue in them, for in doing this you will save both yourself and those who
Ephesians 4:14 That we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

The doctrine here is important because in the latter times, we will see doctrines of men and demons.
No government or church leaders are forbidding us to marry, but they are redefining marriage, doctrines of men inspired by demons.

However, God said He made them male and female. He said a man will leave his mother and father and cleave to his wife and the two shall become one and let no one separate them. Math.19:4-6.

The text just said if you teach good doctrine you are a good minister. Till I come Paul said give attention to reading, to exhortation, to doctrine. It’s all about doctrine, for Paul said to watch your life and doctrine and continue in them that you will save yourself and your hearers.

Doctrine is so important for doctrines and commandments of men God calls vain worship and will make the word of God to no effect in your life.

Back to the story of the little boy, we had fun today but I wish you had been there Lord. If there were 10 real Christians in that church you could say God was there because he came in you, however when God has to do what he is told to do He is not really there as God you have created your own God which is you.
